In the summer of 1995, a group of Cambria friends formed a new social club named the Cambria Newcomers Club.
Founding Members: L-R Becky Kinkade, Barbara Mayberry, Taylor Hilden, Barbara Gilston, Lee Krueger, Vivianne Raives, Judy Levy and Shirlye Green.
In October of that year an Invitational Tea was held to introduce the new organization to members of the community. The attendees of the event discussed forming special interest activity groups, signed up formally as club members, and selected the third Thursday of each month for its regular meetings. The first luncheon was held in January, 1997.
The second luncheon attracted over 90 attendees and CNC was truly on its way! CNC was formed strictly as a community gathering place where members could explore, discover, and connect. It was important from the beginning that the club would push no political or sales agendas.
In 2018, to better reflect its mission and members, the club’s name was changed to the Cambria Neighbors Club. Now in its third decade, this dynamic organization includes well over 200 members, an expanding roster of activity groups, delightful luncheons, and monthly programs focused on a breadth of contemporary topics.
